1 John
OVERVIEW:
A date of about AD 90, with John writing from his exile on Patmos, ends up being the best proposition. As he did in his gospel, John stated with clarity the purpose of his first letter.
He proclaimed the good news about Jesus to the recipients of this letter, saying “so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3).
Later, John added “so that you may not sin” (2:1) and “so that you may know that you have eternal life” (5:13)
Remember Salvation:
â—¦ 1 John 2:12 ”I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name’s sake.“
â—¦ â€â€John man around 100 years reminding, little children to remember your are saved, live with that knowledge, and base every decision according to the forgiveness you received. If your sins are not forgiven, 1 John 1:9 ”If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.“
• Reformed Lifestyle
â—¦ 1 John 2:13 ”I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father.“
â—¦ â€â€John is now speaking to fathers, spiritual fathers who brought others to Christ. Fathers has a personal testimony that they overcame evil one, living a blameless life is there portion, how do we do it.
â—¦ ”My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:“ 1 John‬ â€2‬:â€1‬, â€3‬-â€5
• Remain in Word

â—¦ John speaks to both the groups grown up and growing men, the only way you can overcome is when word of God abides in us. So let us be students and doers of the word. But we need examine ourselves to see if we are overcoming

• Recognize Deception
